Joining the GEO Peer Advisor team this semester is Ahmed Aboutaleb, an exchange student from American University in Cairo (AUC).
Ahmed is a senior studying mechanical engineering major and computer science. Hi passion lies with material science research, which he hopes to pursue in graduate school.
To get to know him better, Ahmed kindly shared some of his life experiences with us.
He was born and raised in the United Arab Emirates, and later moved to Egypt for university.
Ahmed served as a video productions head for a community service and development club at his university. He was also a peer advising leader who helped first year students with the transition to college life.
His interest in politics grew during his junior year at AUC when he joined a student group focused on empowering students to advocate for their rights and improve university life.
Ahmed was elected the Mechanical Engineering Senator in the "student" senate, which gave him the opportunity to continue advocating for students’ rights. He’s held other student government positions including the University/Faculty Senator.
From community service to video production, to student advocacy and advising, Ahmed has been engaged in many interests. As he spends his last semester of college at Virginia Tech, we look forward to seeing what he does next.
Welcome to the team, Ahmed!
