Mozaiko: A Global Living Learning Community

Applications are open for Virginia Tech’s Mozaiko Living Learning Community! Mozaiko translates to “mosaic” in Esperanto, an artificial language originally created to be a “common international language.”

The name fits the community well. Mozaiko Living Learning Community, a program of the Cranwell International Center, is truly a mosaic of cultures.

Students choose a “house” within the community to live in. The houses are organized by language and include Arabic, German, Mandarin, English, Italian, Russian, Intercultural, French, Japanese, and Spanish. All are located on the fourth floor Harper Hall, and together these houses create a diverse community where both U.S. and international students can live among different languages and learn about each other’s cultures.

Mozaiko students have the opportunity to specialize in one of two tracks: International Business and Social Innovation or International Studies. In addition, students have the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of programs, such as the Global Fellow in Residence Program, Intercultural Programming, House Takeovers, and leadership opportunities.

Casey Molina, a senior majoring in multimedia journalism with a minor in international relations, currently lives in Mozaiko’s Spanish House. She also serves as one of our peer advisors. Here's her video about the experience!

Interested? Apply here by the December 1st. Good luck!
