The Global Education Office launched their first crowdfunding campaign this week! The campaign – Beyond Blacksburg: Removing Barriers to Study Abroad – aims to raise funds for scholarships to support underrepresented students in their efforts to study abroad.
Although the trend nationally shows an increase in the number of underrepresented students participating in study abroad programs, it is still an area of growth for Virginia Tech. So for the next 30 days, we will be working to raise $10,000 to benefit students who without support, may not have access to study abroad opportunities.
In an effort to raise awareness about the campaign and promote study abroad opportunities, we are highlighting a new student each day on our social media. We hope to feature a variety of programs to provide different perspectives and insights on the value of an international experience.
